According to a survey of US employers, Forty-five percent of the employers, said they use social networking sites to check on job candidates, up from just 22 percent in a survey conducted last year. Another 11 percent said they plan to start using social networking sites for screening.

 

Following reasons have convinced them not to hire-

1. provocative or inappropriate photographs or information" or content about drinking or using drugs.

2. badmouthing a previous employer, co-workers or clients

3. poor communication skills

4. making discriminatory comments

5. lying about qualifications

6. sharing confidential information from a previous employer.

 

Among employers surveyed by careerbuilder – 29% use Facebook, 26% use LinkedIn and 21% use MySpace. Eleven percent search blogs while seven percent follow candidates on micro-blogging service Twitter.
